Greg Loftus

Greg Loftus is a Massachusetts-born troubadour with a carpenter’s hands and a poet’s heart — crafting gritty, road-worn Americana that’s as unvarnished as it is deeply felt. A songwriter since the age of 12, Loftus has spent decades chasing truth across dive bars, house shows, and honky-tonks from Boston to Austin. His sound draws from the bloodlines of outlaw country, DIY folk, and heartland rock — echoing Townes Van Zandt, Steve Earle, and the worn-soul storytelling of Springsteen or Prine.

After cutting his teeth in New England’s folk scene, Loftus found a second home in Austin, TX, where his band Carpetbagger shared stages with the likes of Mike Cooley and Shakey Graves. His albums — including Raise the Rent and Western Medicine — capture the tension between recklessness and reflection, shot through with blue-collar grit, lyrical candor, and a lived-in vocal rasp.

Now based back on Cape Cod, Loftus splits his time between songwriting and woodworking, channeling the same rugged artistry into both crafts. His latest record, No Kings in the Wild (2024), promises more of what makes him a standout in the Americana underground: honesty without pretense, melody with muscle, and songs that hold the weight of lived experience.

Greg has toured as a supporting act for Anders Osborne and The Steel Wheels and has shared the stage with Nathaniel Rateliff, Cory Branan and John R. Miller.

He resides in Southeast Massachusetts and when he is not making music he is walking his dogs and building things out of wood.
